Liverpool confirm arrival of Mohamed Salah as Jurgen Klopp sparks summer spree with club record £39m deal

Mohamed Salah has joined Liverpool from Roma in a club-record deal worth £39million.

The Egyptian arrived in Merseyside on Tuesday to undergo medical checks and put the final touches on personal terms.

He becomes the most expensive signing in Liverpool’s illustrious history, exceeding the £35m they paid to sign Andy Carroll from Newcastle United in 2011.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Salah said: ‘I’m very excited to be here. I’m very happy.

‘I will give 100 per cent and give everything for the club. I really want to win something for this club.

‘We have a great team and very good players. I was watching the games last year and everyone was giving 100 per cent to win something.

Having switched to the No 9 shirt and seeing new signing Mohamed Salah take his No 11 jersey, Roberto Firmono is keen to give something back to fans who have show their support to him.

Any fans who have ‘Firmino 11’ printed on the back of their 2017-18 Liverpool shirts will be able to send the jerseys to the club to have them personally signed by the Brazilian.

Salah will provide further pace to the Liverpool attack and will compliment the explosive Sadio Mane, who joined from Southampton for a similar fee last summer.

He scored 19 goals in 41 games and provided a further 12 assists for Roma last season, establishing himself as one of the most effective creative forces in Europe.
